Signs…
One of my MOMS favorite things to do Was to walk into thrift stores and see what was there. More often than not she would walk out very excited,Get Home and be unable to contain her absolute joy over the gems she would walk out with. I have been thinking about my mother a lot lately, espeacially during the holidays which Was always her favorite time of year. I have also been thinking about obtaining a Walt clyde Frazier jersey as homage to the NY Knicks of yore. But at eighty dollars or so I figured perhaps that money could be used elsewhere. So in I walk to the local thrift shop thinking about mami , a place she used to frequent and there on a hanger is this gem waiting for me with my name all over it!!! I stood there in momentary disbelief, looked up at the sky and… “Thanks ma, this really what I wanted for xmas good looking out”…If you really Miss a loved one this holiday, Just ask for a sign, have faith and wait. They will show up.!…Happy Holidays to all of you and May the New Year bring some of what you want and Everything you Need!…oh Yeah please note the price of the jersey…LOL! Gotta Love Those thrift stores!

The preparation for the Actor is an involved, very detailed, time consuming, exploratory process and, depending on the role a complex one which very few people understand. It’s not magic and does not rely only on inspiration. What many of us see espeacially on stage is the end result of hours of work and many sleepless nights.
The cast and crew of “Growing Up Gonzalez” have begun preparations in earnest. The sleepless nights and constant meditating on all the things involved in this production for Raphael Baccus, Felix Rojas, Sam Kirk, Candido Tirado, and Christina Ramos our Stage Manager are in full affect. Join us during this run if you can, be there for the beginning of what is a new chapter for the Poets Den Theatre in East Harlem Beginning in Oct.

LONDON…

..The Olympic games of 2012 are about to come to a close, the flame at the Track and Field stadium will be extinguished and Brazil will begin it’s preparations for what will be quite a party 4 years from now. The games have been must see T

V for two weeks. Daily I have been, along with some of you glued to the broadcast from London. Guaranteed that at some point all of us have been entranced ,enchanted and stunned at what we have seen. The great work of all the athletes from all the nations of the world has been an inspiration for us all. Mexico wins a gold medal for soccer. The swimmers have kept us on the edge of our seats, The Womens USA gymnastics and soccer teams did us proud. Bolt was otherworldly, leaving us mouth agape at his speed and dominance. How about that 4x100 womens relay team? The Jamaican and American mens relay teams put on a show huh?? Giving us the feeling that their feet were not even touching the ground. All those latinos from all over Latin America jumping , running ( Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico), cycling (Colombia won silver in the road race) Volleyball (Brazil) and on and on. The accomplishments of all of these amazing people at these games and those who have run it are just to difficult to put into words and to many to list.
The thought that ran thru my head was that a mere 75 years ago The Nation of England and specifically London was fighting for it’s life against the war machine that was Nazi Germany. London and most of England went thru 78 days of continual bombing, basically destroying the city, killing many civilians and nearly breaking the spirit of it’s people. What a different globe this would be if Hitler had been succesful in his diabolical scheme to rule the world. But he wasnt! These Olympic games have been a testament to that and to the spirit of the people of England. Steadfast,Strong, Focused. I have enjoyed these last two weeks immensely and I hope that no matter where you are from that you found something to stand up and cheer about!..BRAZIL 2016

MOM…

…Every now and then I get little signs that my mom Is watching over me. Sometimes they are big huge billboard type signs while other times they are much more subtle. There I was riding along 9W on one of my usual training rides, having go

ne thru all my water on a hot day. I was saying to my self that I needed water but feeling more that I needed Gatorade to quench my thirst. About ten minutes later laying there on the road next to the curb was this unopened bottle of Gatorade. not only that but it was cold as if someone (my mom ) had just come along and left it there. I smiled, looked up and said “thanks mom I love u too”.

My grandfather taught me that tools taken care of will in turn take care of you!

In his own way my dad has taught and given me much!..love u pops! Happy Fathers day!

Why is my smart phone acting stupid???

Here’s something you won’t see in the media:Occupy Frankfurt, May 19. Riot cops take off their helmets and march with the protesters, clearing the road for them. I could say many things about this image yet I find that it really speaks for itself. The police it seems have realized that they too are part of a large group of the world population, who if they dont fall in line will be overrun and “Conquered”. What is the moral and correct thing to do given our current state of affairs? In the end each individual will have to decide for him or herself what to do. I have been told “be ready” for that time is closer at hand than you think! With all due respect I am not speaking of religion or “The great coming” which is always a wonderful distraction to what is really going right here right now. I have taken a look around me and what I see is not the world I imagined as a boy. Slowly but surely the worlds population is being overun while we indulge ourselves in any number of things to many to mention here. My friend Casper Martinez , Author Ivan Sanchez and others have spoken about this at length Over and over again yet it seems that no one is paying attention. Our concerns with the size of someones ass, a persons sexuality, the latest big film opening or our sports teams seems much more interesting to debate and discuss than whether or not we as a human race will even survive the next twenty years. There is much more at stake than what meets the eye. I will think of that the next time I see the price of gas rise to five dollars a gallon, or a medical bill that keeps someone in chains, or anyone in the world at any time going hungry which in the end? when you cut away all the bullshit is an act of genocide, among other things. I have been paying attention have you?

THE CREST…

My fascination with knights has been with me since I was a young man. In Fables and in fact. King Arthur and his court, The three musketeers, The Crusades and their misled march across europe and some knights to controversial to mention here. We as latinos tend to always embrace our indigenous heritage with great pride, in part because of it speaks to our love of the earth, animals and the inherent respect of life that has been handed down to us by our families and our history. Yet many of us, for some reason refuse to accept, acknowledge or embrace the fact that Los Espanoles (The Spanish) are also a part of who we are. That blood flows thru us also. Yes they were invaders to a world that they knew nothing about, Yes they had no business there but there presence cannot be disputed though there motives were less than savory.
On one of my trips to europe I wandered into a store whose theme was the knights of europe. Swords, tunics, helmets adorned this amazing place along with books, drawings and of all things a Knights registry dating back to medieval times. Thats where I found this! I stared at it for a long time, trying to make sense of what I was looking at. I smiled asked if they had one available to take with me, which they did, and out of there I walked.
I have researched the name and it’s origin’s yet that really doesn’t concern me as much the sheer fun of having discovered this bit of illustrated history of the RAMOS CLAN.
